I directed it with a fresh approach

"The House of Bernarda Alba" written by Federico García Lorca and dramaturgy by Nader Naderpour,  has been on stage from Thursday, December  23 at City Theater Complex.  It’s directed by Arash Amiri and produced by Samira Karimi and Arash Amiri.

He has already staged "Between Worlds" written by Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt and this is his second directing experience. Amiri has previously been a consultant director of the show "A Night in Tehran".

                                                                      

Arash Amiri stated that the audience's reception of this show at the Ahura Theater made him decide to restage it at City Theater complex: "After directing the play " Between Worlds " written by Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt, which has completely a surreal atmosphere with comedy situations, I studied nearly 40 plays for my next show until I got to the play " The House of Bernarda Alba", A play that I could not pass easily."

 

He continued: "Even though this play has been directed by great masters; I would like to tell a new story about it with my own point of view."

This director brings up the theme and female perspective of this play: "The female theme of it  was a challenge for me to help me see the world through the female perspective of the characters."

 

He explained: "This play was very valuable to me and I tried my best to direct it without any interference and with full commitment. Of course, in the mise en scène and the characterization, I did what was going through my mind.

 

Stating that the actors of this show mostly play characters who are about 20 or 30 years older than their real age, Amiri said: "I tried to provide situations where the actors have a great challenge to play their roles."

 

He reveals that the criteria for selecting the actors was not a normal process: The selection of actors was not based on the normal and common process, but I took more risks to choose them, and fortunately, both from my point of view and from the audience's point of view, this risk was successful to the extent that the actors' performance is considered a reason to extend the show.

 

This artist explained about the method of reporting and advertising: "Our method of advertising is almost back to 10 to 15 years ago. Just at the time when the audience was invited to watch the show through Word-of-mouth marketing . Of course, there is no complaint about this; Because we have preferred to express our words in any situation with our art."
