David Wood’s The Papertown Paperchase comes on stage in Tehran

Iran Theater-An adaptation of David Wood’s children musical play THE PAPERTOWN PAPERCHASE comes to stage in Tehran.

The show "Samander and Papertown" adapted from David Wood's work, directed by Mohammad -Reza Shahmardi, was opened on Sunday, January 9, at Honar Hall.

              

The producer of this play is Sara Hosseinizadeh and Seyed Hossein Fadaei- Hossein is the translator of the play and the consultant of the director of the show.

 

David Bernard Wood is an English actor, author, composer, director, magician and producer. The Times called him "the National Children's Dramatist".In 1979, he joined Bernard Cribbins, Maurice Denham, and Jan Francis in a reading of The Hobbit for the BBC Television show Jackanory.

 

David Wood wrote the play in 1972. He rewrote it  in 1984. David Wood writes : I had always felt that the original version was too long, and welcomed the opportunity to rewrite the play and direct it for the Whirligig Theatre production. It proved to be a spectacular success, with riotous audience participation.

 

The saamander, who failed the fire land test, must set the papertown on fire in order to find a way to live in his land again...

Fatemeh Khoshsokhan, Sana Razji, Majid Zand, Hadis Sabri, Ali Abedi, Amirhossein Arab- Khorasani, Niloufer Kalaei, Zahra Gaeeni, Ghandom Lotfi, Javad Merajizadeh, Mehdi Mansouri are the players and puppeteers of the show.

 

The crew: Abbas Jalalipour (Motion Designer), Fatemeh Mohammadi (Assistant Director and Programmer), Bita Joshghani (Assistant Director and Coordination Manager), Reyhane Motahari (Public Relations Manager), Majid Zand (Production Manager), Ali Abedi (Production Assistant), Amir Hossein Arab Khorasani and Mehdi Mansouri (stage managers), Ali Abedi and Mehdi Mansouri (stage designer), Amirhossein Arab- Khorasani (puppet designer), Mehdi Khajestegi, Maryam Gholami and Sonia Aram (costume designer), Zahra Khamse (graphic designer), Sara Hosseinizadeh (makeup designer) ), Mehdi Ghasemi (sound and music), Kaivan Ziapour (light designer), Maryam Gholami, Afsana Faraji, Azita Hayati and Maryam Eaini (dressmaking), Mehdi Mansouri, Hanieh Rajabi (make-up artists).

 

The audience of this show is children and teenagers, and it will be staged in January and February 2023 in the morning, especially for schools, and at 17:30 for families. Honar Hall address: Haftir Square, Mofteh South Street, Varzandeh Street, next to Shahid Shiroudi Stadium
