Bahman Sadegh-Hasani: The variety of works was one of the best features of street section

Bahman Sadegh-Hasani, director of Gilan Performing Arts Association, has participated in 21 editions of FITF, as well as puppet festivals in Tajikistan and Kurdistan in Iraq. He is a jury of the street and environmental sections .

He and other juries watch shows in the Rudaki area. Iran Theater has interviewed him about the judging criteria.Bahman Sadegh -Hasani said that he has been working in the theater since 1975: We are the children of the theater.

He explained about the ideas in the street shows in FITF: "Artists should avoid superficiality and try harder to develop ideas. However, the theater troupes in the street section gave their best efforts to perform various types of shows."

Sadegh-Hasani watched a number of stage shows in FITF,” I found two works unique and remarkable in terms of direction and stage design. Of course, in most of the works of the street section, you could see the motivation and determination of young artists to present better work, which is promising.”

He expressed his satisfaction with the variety of works in FITF 2023.

"The variety of works in the street section was one of the best features of the 41^st FITF, and many different works and ideas can be seen."

Sadegh-Hasani considered the holding of the Fadjr regional Theater Festival and the strong presence of the winners of these festivals as the turning point of the 41st FITF.

  "Theatre artists in the cities are a young and active generation who have good ideas for performances and if they have more facilities, they will certainly create more magnificent works."

The jury explained the difference between FITF 2023 with previous editions.

  "The absence of professional directors was very noticeable in FITF 2023; if they had some shows in the festival, city artists would have a better opportunity to gain experience."

He disclosed about his criteria for judging. : " There will be more interst in Shows that are based on Iranian culture and those that present Iranian myths and Iranian history and cultural, social, economic and... society issues ."

The 41st  FITF is underway in Tehran until January 31. The festival is presided over by Iranian actor and director  Kourosh Zarei
