Sahab Mohebali on Mushmargi

Iran Theater-Sohab Mohibali director of Mushmargi said : In the show "Mushmargi" we are trying to discover newer concepts, of course this is not an experimental work, but we tried to be creative in the tone and narrative.

The show "Mushmargi" written and directed by Sohab Mohebali is on stage from the 26th of January at 19:10 in the hall No.3 of Shahrazad Theater Complex.

"Mushmargi" is a psychological and unrealistic story of one of the most terrible contemporary crimes.

Mohibali explained about the story that "Mushmargi" is the life story of Josef Fritzl, an Austrian man who locked his daughter in the basement of his house for 24 years and abused her sexually. After having seven children during this period, this girl is released from the prison that her father built for her because of her first child's illness and to treat him."

He continues: "This incident became the basis for the play "Mushmargi" so that we could make that story, which I believe had a great dramatic potential."

This artist adds: "Violence is an element that exists in all of our lives and we cannot deny it. We must keep in mind that ignoring violence will help to spread it in the society."

Mohebali said that he also tried to show violence in his previous works.

"In this work, I tried to portray the domestic violence against women in Iran and other countries. The subject of rape is a problem that cannot be dealt with by censorship. If we close our eyes to this problem, we have deceived both ourselves and the audience."

He said about the stage design of the work: We tried to show the underground space and its chaos with a completely minimal approach in order to tell the story. In this show, more attention is paid to storytelling than trying to consider the scene as a narrative element.

He has tried to form a psychological work based on the mental space of the people in the show.

"The story is very important to me and I think about the story before the form and performance; Actually, I am thinking of a story that I am going to present to the audience in the form of a show.

Mohebali added: "We are not narrating a crime story, but we are showing the stories of our victims by manipulation. These victims live in an atmosphere full of contradictions; a contradiction full of death, life, freedom, captivity, humanity and utilitarianism.

In the end, Sohab Mohibali Emphasized: "The theater needs more support from the audience; In any form, watching theater should be a common behavior for the audience. Theater artists must be able to produce shows that allow the audience to connect with the theater."
