Ariyan Manesh: The Ritual-Traditional Theater Festival Is a Step to Recognize the Sublime Iranian Ar

IRAN THEATER – “the usual dramatic forms we have in Iran are widely under the influence of western theater.” Member of the Islamic Congress, Javad Ariyan Manesh, said in a talk with the headquarters of the 14th International Ritual-Traditional Theater Festival.

“Regarding the fact that theater is a kind of art which is based on dialogue and communication, we can revive Iranian art and demonstrate our potentialities to the world via bridging the gap between theater and our Islamic culture.”
Mentioning that the Islamic and Iranian rituals can be a rich source of inspiration for dramatic creation, vice chairman of the Islamic congress’s cultural commission added: “There are so many age-old subcultures all over our ancient country that have been forgotten and we can enrich the Iranian art and culture, beyond doubt, through reviving them. Surely, the native elements can work as a protection against invasion of the foreign cultures.”
“These years we have been witnessing an increase in the culture budget. However, the members of the congress’s cultural commission believe that it is still insufficient. In fact, the congress does not have such an executive power to increase the budget, yet we have been always asking the government for that.” He continued.

The 14th International Ritual-Traditional Theater Festival will take place from Jul 30 to Aug 7 in Tehran.
