Ebrahim Poshtkohi on "Macbethian"
Iran Theater- Ebrahim Poshtkohi, the writer and director of the play "Macbethian" which will be performed in May 2023 at the City Theater complex, believed that this version of "Macbeth" is very oriental and Iranian, and it is not only based on the zar ritual of the south, but also from other eastern performance methods such as kabuki and kathakali and even from Italian comedy.
The main hall of the City Theater Complex will host a show after a few months.
Ebrahim Poshtkohi, the writer and director of this play, who is originally from Bandar Abbas city, explained about his latest play: "According to the conversation we had with officials of City Theater Complex, the performance of "Macbethian" is scheduled to start in the end of April in the main hall of City Theater Complex. "
He participated in 41st FITF with "Macbethian”.
The director revealed about the possible differences between the festival performance and the public performance: "I wrote and performed the show "Only the first dog knows why it barks at Macbeth" with a look at Shakespeare's "Macbeth", which was performed in several foreign countries and received awards. "Macbethian" is actually a newer and updated version of that show that we performed at the Fadjr Festival in February, and its public performance will not be much different compared to that performance. Apparently, we have to review for public performances."
About the audience of this show, he believes that only professional theater viewers are not the audience of "Macbethian".
"Because our show has several layers and each group of audience can identify with each of these layers. our audience is all people, but special audiences can discover other layers and enjoy it. Anyway, we are not looking for a specific audience and our target is the general audience. "
He continued: "We will probably have some performance abroad of Iran in June and some actors will not be able to join us because they do not have Military Service License. For this reason, there is a strong possibility that we will have some change in casting , But the joining of new actors does not make anyone leave group. Shobair Parastar has joined our group as a project manager."
The performance of "Macbethian" in the Fadjr International Theater Festival was welcomed by the audiences and it was was performed with a hall full of spectators in the main hall of City Theater Complex and the audience was present in the hall until the end of the performance. "
