Behrouz Gharibpour: Justice in Shahnameh is important for Ferdowsi

Iran Theater- Behrouz Gharibpour, writer, director and theater researcher said that what is important in Shahnameh for Ferdowsi is justice.

He talked on the anniversary of the completion of Shahnameh.

The Shahnameh anniversary ceremony was held at the same time as the historical time of the completion of the Shahnameh by Hakim Ferdowsi at the Da Theater House.

Behrouz Gharibpour  and Kamran Keshiri, an expert in linguistics and anthropology, spoke about the Shahnameh and its role and place in Iranian society.

Behrouz Gharibpour is an Iranian theatre director and pioneer of traditional Persian puppet theatre. He studied theatre at Tehran University and at Dramatic Arts Academy in Rome. He founded Tehran and Esfahan puppet theatre centres and changed Tehran's slaughterhouse into the greatest Iran's Cultural Centre.

Behrouz Gharibpour said about justice in Shahnameh: What is important in Shahnameh and for Ferdowsi is justice. The justice that exists in the creation of characters. We have an analysis of Fyodor Dostoyevsky who says that one of his greatest favors is that his characters are not slaves. They do not do whatever the author says, but they have an essence separate from the author.

He added: "Ferdowsi does not look at the world in black and white and does not turn Afrasiab into a hornless giant. It also brings him valuable qualities. About Sudabeh, he works extremely well, i.e. creating characters who can be both smart and able to do bad deeds at the right time;  Some dramatic real-world characters.”
