Kiumars Pourahmad, a veteran stage director and filmmaker died

Iran Theater- Kiumars Pourahmad , a veteran filmmaker, producer ,writer and stage director passed away on Wednesday morning.

Pourahmad, the director of the show "Khorde Khanum" and the creator of the memorable series "Majid’s Tales" passed away this morning on the 5th of April.

Kiumars Poorahmad was born in 1949 in Najafabad, Iran. He started his career as a film critic and assistant director in a TV series in the early 1970s. He made his directorial debut, Tatureh in 1983 after making some short films. Children and young adults with their problems are the central characters in most of his films.

The series "Majid’s Tales" directed by Pourahmad, which was based on a book of the same name written by Hoshang Moradi Kermani, is considered benchmark of his career. There are few people who have seen this series and did not enjoy the adventures of Majid and Bibi and their sweet Isfahani accent. It’s a well-known series that is one of the best television works of its time.

He became familiar  with theater when he was a teenager. In 2012, he staged the play "Khorde Khanum" written by Asghar Abdullahi as his first experience as a professional director in Iranshahr Theater Complex.

"Khorde Khanum" was a ritualistic-traditional play in the form of Siah-bazi, which dealt with the story of the assassination of Naseruddin Shah and  some famous artists such as Gulab Adineh, Amirreza Waziri, Farzin Mohhaddes and Fereydoun Mehrabi had  starring roles.

Pourahmad also published his autobiography as a book named "Unfinished Childhood".
