Tolstoy’s Ivan the Terrible comes to Tehran

The Death of Ivan the Terrible was first performed at the Alexandrinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg in 1867. It was not a success, due to the lead role having been given to a comic actor. The world-famous Moscow Art Theatre began its second season with a production of the play, which opened on 29 September 1899.

The Death of Ivan the Terrible  is a historical drama by Aleksey Konstantinovich Tolstoy written in 1863 and first published in the January 1866 issue of Otechestvennye zapiski magazine.

Ivan IV Vasilyevich, commonly known in English as Ivan the Terrible, was the grand prince of Moscow from 1533 to 1547 and the first Tsar of all Russia from 1547 to 1584. Ivan came from the imperial bloodline of Byzantine Palaiologos family through his grandmother Sophia Palaiologina.

 

The comedy show "George the terrible" written by Amir Jasmian- Azad and Ramiyar Mahmoudi, designed and directed by Mehran Makari, will be on  stage at until April 29.

The cast: Ramyar Mahmoudi, Hamid Agheh- Vaisi, Hadi Derakhshande, Sara Sibi, Shahabuddin Ahadi, Parisa Bakshi, Amin Sanjarbeigi and Alireza Yazdan –Panah.

 

The crew: Ramyar Mahmoudi (consultant director and composer), Alireza Yazdan -Panah (first assistant and scheduler), Mehrane Talebi (assistant planner and play supervisor), Yeganeh Shamsabadi (coordination and production), Mehran Makari and Ramyar Mahmoudi (set designer), Mehran Makari and Mehrane Talebi (costume designer), Ramyar Mahmoudi and Alireza Yazdanpanah (light designer), Fatemeh Rahmati and Reza Amani (stage manager), Abd Niksirat (poster designer-photographer-advertising and public relations) and Sahar Joanmard (photographer).

The show "George the Terrible" will be staged at 19:15 at in Nofel Loshato Mansion.
