A Glance at the First Day of the 14th International Ritual-Traditional Theater Festival

• Help to Poor Indian Artists There is a charity shop at the entrance hall of The House of Artists, that sells Indian masks by a troupe named “Cho Bangali” to raise money for the poor Indian artists.

  • Positive Points of the 14th Round

First, this year, the festival is well-organized, the productions begin exactly on time and the venues do not get cluttered up with the spectators.  

Second, the foreign works can communicate with the Iranians more than ever due to their good technical quality and less dependence on language.

·        A Rapturous Applause for Bulgarians

“Thorny Tature”, a performance from Bulgaria, was given so big round of applause that the actors had to continually return to stage to show appreciation. The performance represents the rituals and rural customs of the Eastern Europe and specially Bulgaria, via a modern style.

  • The Theater Documents

An exhibition of the antique theater documents; includes hand-written plays, the first consents of performances and the first Iranian Theater Magazine, took place in the waiting room of  the main venue of the city theater.

  • Foreign Shows

Some stage productions from South Korea, Italy, Bulgaria, and India will be performed on the 3rd day of the festival.

A performance called “Karma”, directed by Jae Hiun Woo, from South Korea will be performed at 20:45 in the main venue of the city theater. The Sanghelach Theater will host a play called “Hey You!” by Stefano Ghiunci, from Italy. Also, the first venue of the Iranshahr Theater will witness “Thorny Tature” from Bulgaria and “Cho Bangali” by Sanjay Coumar Mahato, from India, will be performed at the second venue of this theater.

The 14th International Ritual-Traditional Theater Festival will come to an end on Aug 16 at the Niavaran Foundation of the Artistic Creations.
