Ebrahim Poshtkouhi’s "Macbeth Zar" to perform at the 18th Saint Petersburg Theater Festival

Iran Theater-Saeed Barjali announced that the play "Macbeth Zar" written and directed by Ebrahim Poshtkouhi will be staged today, June 1, as the only representative of Iran in the 18th Saint Petersburg Theater Festival in Russia.

This performance is to take the stage at the closing of Saint Petersburg Festival as the selected piece of Russian Association of Theater Critics.

Artists from France, Denmark, Poland, Estonia, US, Japan, Bulgaria, UK, Russia and Georgia will take part in the festival, which is going to take place May 23- June 2.

Ebrahim Poshtkuhi’s Macbeth Zar" previously won an award at the Moscow  Night International Festival and was an award-winning play at the Munich Festival.  It’s also performed  in the Avignon Festival in France and the GITIS Theater Institute in Moscow. "Macbeth Zar" has also been performed in Armenia, Azerbaijan and India.

Saeed Barjali , who plays  Macduff  in  Macbeth Zar"  said: The  group will be in St. Petersburg on Tuesday, and our special performance is today, Thursday June 2 at 17:30 at the Hermitage Hall in Russia. "Macbeth zar" is the only show of this festival that is staged in this magnificent hall. Artists from France, Denmark, Poland, Estonia, US, Japan, Bulgaria, UK, Russia and Georgia will take part in the festival. It is good news that "Macbeth zar" is the only representative of Iran in the  festival and special attention has been paid to this work.

  Saint Petersburg Theater Festival has been held annually since 2000 and one of its notable features is hosting new and original performances.
