Oshan Mahmoudi: Puppet show trains professional theater audience for the future

Iran Theater- Oshan Mahmoudi, the writer and director of the show "Male cat and cunning fox" considered the Tehran-Mubarak International Puppet Festival to be effective in creating social excitement and said that we are actually training professional theater audiences for the future.

The show "Male Cat and Cunning Fox" written and directed by Oshan Mahmoudi ended its performances on Sunday, July 2, after four performances in the guest section of the 19th Tehran-Mubarak International Puppet Festival.

Oshan Mahmoudi said: Pinocchio is my favorite story, and the trilogy I had in mind was completed with the performance of the show "Male Cat and Cunning Fox".

A new adaptation of Carlo Collodi’s The Adventures of Pinocchio was the latest musical show which went on stage from May 27 at City Theater Complex and had four performances in International Puppet Festival.

The artist explained about the reason for choosing the character of Pinocchio for the show: "I pay attention to the fact that if this play is staged for foreigners and audiences who are not familiar with our culture, how can it be understood by them? Therefore, I have to choose a story that is at least widely known. "Pinocchio" is a universal story and maybe more than 90% of people are familiar with it.

Referring to the audience of the show, he added: "I can't say that this work is only suitable for children or only for adults; I wanted everyone to understand it from their perspective when the audience enters the hall, and fortunately they can understand it. For this purpose, I had an animated style, and the audience has connected with the show in terms of image and content.

This artist also said about the importance of holding the International Puppet Festival: "Puppet show starts from the child's audience and involves the child inside the adults as well. In this way, holding festivals and watching puppet shows will make the audience of all ages, especially children, familiar with theater, and this will be a good thing for this art in the future. In fact we train professional theater audiences for the future with the puppet show."
