Ghotbeddin Sadeghi: We must be the narrator of the sufferings of our time

Iran Theater- Ghotbeddin Sadeghi believes that we should narrate our times because if we don't, others will distort our sufferings.

The second meeting of the "Voice of the Playwright" was the reading and analysis of the play "No one greeted us" written by Ghotbeddin Sadeghi.

This meeting was held in the hall of Ostad Javanmard of artist  Theater Forum, Sadeghi explained that this play is a tribute to two generations who lost their lives due to social events.

He explained about the story of this play, which is taken from the lives of real people in the 80s: Since Nowruz of  last year, I have been writing plays and I am very interested in performing this play.

Sadeghi, who dealt with the life of a professor and a former student as two generations in this play, said about dealing with contemporary events and characters in this play and his departure from the world of myths: "Recently, most of the play I ‘v written is  about contemporary world. Is.  I have several plays that have explicitly spoken about this era as well. When I deal with myths, it is not separate from today's issues. Besides, this play could not be written in the language of myths. The two characters of this show belong to the real world and I know them closely.

He continued: We have lost two great generations; Students and professors who did not survive the accidents. In this play, I have a great admiration for the Iranian woman who remains loyal to her love despite all the hardships.

Emphasizing that he does not intend to make heroes, Sadeghi added: "I did not seek to make heroes, but I wanted to check the capacity of people in the midst of events, which is very different. Under normal circumstances, everyone is a hero and behaves reasonably, but it is in the midst of incidents that people's character is determined. The people in my show are not heroes, but they are respectable because they lost their lives for their ideals and we have nothing more valuable than life.

Sadeghi also pointed to the role of the artist and continued: An artist is neither a prophet nor an ideologue or a social theorist, but his work is an honest narration of social crises in his works.

In response to a question about the tragic ending of his play, this theater director and researcher said: My view of art and the world is tragic. I believe that the audience should be sent home with a pain to increase the impact of the drama.
