Mehrdad Kouroshnia on the show Sigmund

Iran Theater- Mehrdad Kuroshnia introduced "Sigmund" as a formalist play that deals with Freud's 6 nightmares and concerns in the last two days of his life with a critical approach.
Mehrdad Kouroshnia, designer, writer and theater director returns to the stage after six years with the performance of "Sigmond".
"This show is about the last two days of the life of Sigmund Freud, the famous psychologist and theorist of the 20th century," said Kouroshnia about the story of "Sigmund"
He continued: "Based on a surrealistic atmosphere, this work depicts 6 nightmares and worries of Freud in the last two days of his life, when he was in a coma."
Sigmund Freud was an Austrian neurologist and the founder of psychoanalysis, a clinical method for evaluating and treating pathologies seen as originating from conflicts in the psyche, through dialogue between patient and psychoanalyst, and the distinctive theory of mind and human agency derived from it.
The writer and director of the play "Sigmund" said that he has been working in the field of psychology for many years: "I wrote the book "Personality Ladder" based on the classification of psychology and with my prior knowledge of psychology, I have written the play "Sigmund" with a critical approach and by criticizing the thought and contradictions that may have existed in Freud's personal life.
Kouroshnia said that his constant concern was to have a subject for a formalist show: Freud, as the founder and theorist of the unconscious, spends the last two days of his life in a coma. And what happens to him and what is involved in his unconscious during this time is the theme of the show, it was the best subject that allowed me to perform formalism.
The artist added: Formalist performances are always attractive due to the imaginative nature, but many plays and subjects do not allow the director to have formalistic reinterpretations. In many shows we try to force a formalistic approach to a subject or theme.
