Narges Yazdi on 2023 International Traditional and Ritual Theater Festival

Narges Yazdi is the director of Namayesh publications of the General Department of Dramatic Arts and the academic manager of the 9th research seminar of the 21st Traditional and Ritual Theater Festival. This program will be held in Tabriz under the auspices of the Department of Culture and Islamic Guidance of East Azarbaijan province.

 

Yazdi explains: various sections of festival will be held in different provinces of Iran, and the research seminar section will be held for the first time in the history of the festival in the beautiful city of Tabriz for two days on  September 30 and October 1.

She addes: " since the plan of the seminar call, we have tried to encourage people to conduct serious research, and the research should not only introduce rituals or ritual performances of different places. With the aim of publishing the best articles, we can revise the research in the field of ritual and traditional shows. More than 60 articles were sent to the secretariat to participate in the seminar, and 30 abstracts were selected in the first stage, and finally 10 articles made it to the seminar. "We were very eager to have articles and research presented in the festival from different parts of the world. Therefore, as in previous years, the call was published internationally; But we knew that it was not enough to publish the call and we invited some of the world's most prominent theorists in this field to present their opinions as special guests in this seminar, which they also welcomed.

 

Yazdi reveals that for the first time, the ritual and traditional seminar will host some of the most prominent world figures: "Professor Richard Shakner, Professor Marvin Carlsen, Michael Chambers, Vladimir Stanevsky and Bharat Gupt are among the guests who will be present online from America, Poland and India in this seminar. Also, two of the most prominent professors and researchers from China, Xiaomi Chen and Siyuan Liu, will be our guest. One of them is an expert in the field of Peking Opera and the other is an expert in the field of contemporary Chinese drama and its relationship with traditional forms.

The director of the Namayesh publishing house announced the publication of the book Collection of Ritual and Traditional Essays that  will be present in the seminar section.
