Gharib Pour Back to Iran with a Golden Award

Behrouz Gharib Pour has received Golden Herring Award from Ariono Del Mare Festival. IRAN THEATER – Initiated in 1975, the festival has been giving Golden Herring Award to who helps puppetry grow and develop in the national and international arena. This year the festival awarded the Iranian artist.

Formerly Sergio Leone and Dario Fo, and a Japanese artist, had been given the prestigious award.

Gharib Pour has received the award on September 7, together with the head of the Puppetry Institute of Barcelona and an Italian playwright.

"I held a 4-hour workshop to present my works and my style." He said to IRAN THEATER.

"Regarding the interests of the festival's artistic director, Stefano Giunghi, I am going to co-operate with him to release a book or stage a collaborative production."

Gharib Pour is returning to Italy in October to stage "Ashoura Opera" in the Cuirno theater of Rome.

"By virtue of some renovations, Baqal Bazi will be performed with delay in the Sanghelach Theater." He said about his new project.

"The production features 60 or 70 actors which will be mostly chosen from Aran troupe." He added.
