Mehdi Hamedsaghaian’s meeting with Russia’s special presidential Representative for International Cultural Cooperation
Iran Theater-Mehdi Hamedsaghaian, the artistic director of the 42nd Fadjr International Theater Festival, met with Russia’s the special representative for International cultural cooperation and former minister of culture, as well as the officials and theater artists of the country.
During his trip to Russia, He met with Mikhail Shvydkoy, the special presidential Representative for International Cultural Cooperation, and former Chairman of the Federal Agency for Culture and Cinematography and former minister of culture.
They talked about the promotion of cultural and artistic relations between the two countries, the development of artistic cooperation and the international section of Fadjr Theater Festival.
Mikhail Shvydkoy spoke about the importance of communication with Iranian stage artists for Russia and expressed hope that Iranian theater groups will also participate in Russian theater festivals. He said: "In December, a delegation from the Russian Ministry of Culture will travel to Iran to discuss the development of artistic cooperation between the two countries."
He expressed his interest that a group of Iranian theater officials will travel to Moscow in the coming months and get to know the Russian contemporary theater better, the result of which could be a long-term memorandum of understanding for co- production.
Mehdi Hamedsaghaian, the artistic director of the Fadjr International Theater Festival, also expressed his views on inviting prominent works and top plays from Russia and emphasized: "Shows will attend 2024 Fadjr Festival that can show the high quality of Russian productions to Iranian artists and theater enthusiasts."
During this trip, Mehdi Hamedsaghaian met with Professor Grigory Zaslavsky, the head of Russian Institute of Theatre Arts - GITIS, and he expressed his interest in presenting some plays of the students of the Russian Theater Academy at the Fadjr Theater Festival.
