The 4th Marivan National Street Theater Festival

The press conference of the 4th Marivan Street Theater Festival was held in the presence of general director of The Kordestan's Culture and Islamic Guidance Office, Saed Imani, the festival's artistic director and member of the selection committee, Shahram Karami, the cultural deputy of The Kordestan's Culture and Islamic Guidance Office, Shariati.

IRAN THEATER – Mentioning the festival's background, Imani elaborated on the festival's aims: "The most important goals of the festival are discovering talents, providing communication field between subcultures and Iranian ethnics, establishing national unity, theater marketing, developing the street theater artists' experiences, discovering the cultural capacities of Kordestan, communicating with other countries, promoting Iranian customs and beliefs."

"The weakest point of the festival was lacking international section." Karami said. "In addition to the low quality of the foreign applicants' works, the Call For Entry was suffering from weak transmission, because we had directly invited foreign countries instead of issuing an international invitation, therefore, few applied for the festival, which should be corrected in the future. However the festival will find international dimension next year."

"In this edition a research section has been also added to the festival frame." Karami added. "The festival policy should find scientific character. It needs a policy making council and using international theater professionals to teach."

"The festival works should be given the chance to participate in the prestigious international festivals." Imani said at the end of the conference.

The 4th Marivan Street Theater Festival runs through Sep 29 and a jury includes Farhad Aish, Hussein Atefi and Ali Moazeni evaluates the outdoor productions.
