Regional Theater Festivals to get under way

The four provinces of East Azarbaijan, Semnan, Razavi Khorasan and Fars, are holding Regional Theater Festivals, which have been prepared with the support and coordination of the General Department of Dramatic Arts.

After a seven-year hiatus, Regional Theater festivals kick started last year with the request of artists, the emphasis of the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, the support of the deputy director of arts and the efforts of the General Directorate of Dramatic Arts.

32 provincial theater festivals ended this year and the winners were crowned. Then the theater artists, in a rightful demand, called for more magnificent regional theater festivals, which was going under way with the support of the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance and the allocation of the required budget.

Due to the addition of the street theater section in the provincial festivals of 2023, street theater artists will performed  in regional theater festivals for the first time. The best street and stage works of regional festivals will compete in the 42nd Fadjr International Theater Festival.
