There Is No limitation in Religious Themes

The second panel discussion of the Razavi Theater Festival titled "Religious Art, Religious Theater, Themes & Subjects" took place on Oct 21, in the presence of Hojat'ol Islam Zam, Hasan Bolkhari, and Hussein Mosafer Astane, at the conference hall of the city theater.

IRAN THEATER – Pointing to the theosophical parable and its effects on the Iranian Theater, Bolkhari said: "Parable is the base of the eastern theater. The eastern transmutes an abstract fact to a tangible object through imagination."
"Unfortunately theater has not found connection with other sciences. However it is supposed to be so, especially when we want to stage a play with national or religious identity." Hussein Mosafer Astane said.
"In order to understand religious theater, first we should analyze religion, and then we can extract dramatic subjects from that." Hojat'ol Islam Zam said. "All of the religious subjects are expressible through dramatic language. These years religious theater has been suffering from lack of cognition. Therefore religious stage productions are not popular."
"Our history and west have many things in common and they were running parallel up to the threshold of the Modernity. After that they took apart. There are so many similarities between our art and western art; such as so called Catharsis of Aristotle which is obvious in our religious art." Bolkhari said. "Some of our mythology and art history was vanished after invasion of Alexander. Therefore we can not precisely talk about it."
