Mohammad Motaharipour on his latest show “Zanbour” , monologue and loneliness

Iran Theater-The director of “Zanbour/Bee”,Mohammad Motaharipour, said that in today's world, the audience does not need strange forms, and they use monologues because they are interested in sharing their lives with others

The play "Bee" written by Behzad Aghajani and co- directed by Mohammad Motaharipour and Behzad Aghajani has been opened on May 14 in Molavi Hall.

This one man show is the story of a 40-year-old pigeon-fancier named Zanbour who lives in the old area in the lower part of the city. The municipality is planning to demolish his old house and he stands alone in front of this incident...

At the beginning, Motaharipour said about the history of monologue: "The background of monologue goes back to the World War II. Fear, anxiety and loneliness caused by the war made people talk loudly to themselves. Then a psychologist used this way of speaking loudly for therapy and treatment. In fact, the formation of the monologue was initially considered to be a form of treatment according to medical issues.”

He went on to say: "I think this is the way to listen to the story of another's life and his loneliness, it’s performed during performances of   big- budget theaters with many characters. In fact, this is a way for me to share my loneliness with others. The audience may relate to the show because they seem to see their own loneliness on stage.”

He believed that in today's world, the audience does not need strange forms. They need  to be heard. Many people are now interested in podcasting, and the desire to share their lives with others draws them to the monologue.

This artist stars in the show: "A monologue is a very beautiful exercise for me. As an actor, you should fulfil the director's requests and also add other traits to the character and do  it in the best way and make a record.”
