Davood Fathali Baygi: Education is the missing link of Iranian shows

Iran Theater- Davood Fathali Baygi, whose play "Mubarak and Khatoon Pardehneshin" directed by Ali Tarabi has been on stage at Sangelaj Theater Complex these days, believes that the audience likes Takht- Hozai and Iranian plays very much, and in order for this type of drama to last, its education should be taken seriously and an academic field of Iranian drama should be established.

Produced by Amir-Hossein Shafiei and directed by Ali Tarabi, the play "Mubarak and Khatoon Pardehneshin"has been at Sangelaj Theater Complex since June 10,2024.

Davood Fathali Baygi, the author of this play, pointed out that the play is an adaptation of the story of "Zan Parsa" in Attar of Nishapur's book "The IIlahi Nama": "I read this story many years ago and loved it very much, and even though it has a bitter story, but I decided to write this play as a game within game format. I started the story from the end of Attar's narration, and the play is a game within a game, and during the story, we constantly flashback to the past and return to the present. Mubarak, who is added to the story and is present everywhere, is a kind of symbol of goodness."

He went on to say: "I myself also performed the play "Mubarak and Khatoon Pardehneshin", once in a completely Takht-Hozi style in the open air of Melal Culture Center and once years ago in the Sangelaj Hall . "Mubarak and Khatoon Pardehnesghin" directed by Ali Tarabi has been staged in Sangalej Theater currently. Together with a young and very talented group who are concerned about Iranian shows and have requested me many times to work together to increase their knowledge and experience. They have a pleasant performance and they take the audience with them until the end of the story, and the audience loves them."

Expressing concern over the fading away of Iranian drama, He considered education as the first step to preserve it and said: "Unfortunately, Iranian drama does not have a place in theater schools; We only have two drama lessons in Iran, which are mostly told in that history.”
