Sanaz Bayan: I cannot challenge myself by reproducing a work

She has new plays that she will choose to perform if the conditions are right. Sanaz Bayan, theater writer and director, last staged the play "Pinkish Blue" in 2018 and since then she has been working mostly as a screenwriter in cinema.

These days Bayan prefers to deal with her unwritten plays and unfinished works: "It's as if when you keep a distance from theater, you become frozen, and it will be difficult for you to return to the stage."

 

She continues: "I have to think about what can be done and I am not sure about it yet. In fact, I have to decide which of my works that have not been performed in public so far, such as A Doll's House or even which drafts that are incomplete, to prepare for the stage according to the current times and conditions.”

Referring to the request of many audiences to re-perform the show "Pinkish Blue", this artist says: "There has been a lot of requests for it, especially from friends whose lives were affected by this show, If I were to perform it again, I would definitely work with the same team, unless they don't want to cooperate or can't work together for any reason. But now I need to move forward."

She explains that for a writer, being overloaded with subjects and having a large number of unworked play is an obstacle in her artistic path: "A person needs to experience new challenges and hardships. In fact, if I want to be successful for many times, I will not learn anything new and I will not be able to challenge myself and I will remain the same person as I have been. But I would like to do something that is more difficult for me in the next step and test myself in the next challange to see if I can become a better artist or not and maybe think about reproducing "Pinkish Blue" after I do my new performance.”

This writer and theater director says: "Due to the conditions imposed by pandemic and also the need to continue working, I was mostly busy writing for cinema. Unfortunately, our lungs are still sensitive to the virus. That's why I don't even want to think about those days in my works. Maybe I will refer to pandemic, but if I want to talk about it or write a special work, it will take time because it is still very hot."
