Arvand Dashtaray:
Acting in "Bluebeard" is unique and different

Iran Theater- Arvand Dashtaray, the writer and director of the show "Bluebread" considered the acting of this show unique and different and said that watching this work can be helpful for those interested in acting.
Arvand Dashtaray is an ambitious and influential theater maker of his generation, making waves in the art world from a young age. At 19, he founded Virgule, a production company that he has produced, directed and designed more than 30 performances to date.
The show "Blue Beard" written and directed by Arvand Dashtaray is on the stage from August 14 in Tehran Book Garden.
This show was previously performed in November 2023 with the title "Love Song of Crazy Girl" in the main hall of City Theater Complex and this time it will host the audience with new cast and a different approach.
About the differences created in the reproduction of this work, Dashtaray said: "In City Theater Complex, we harmonized the performance idea with the decor of the show "Father" which was staged at the same time as the show " Love Song of Crazy Girl ". We also tried to take into account the folkloric aspects of the story of "Bluebeard", and based on this, a fun and eye-catching atmosphere was created with pop art elements in the music, video mapping, and even the performers... on stage.
He went on to say: "But in this performance, we emphasized on stillness and removing everything, even removing many of their typical characteristics, and we focused on the story and the confrontation of the characters in influencing each other in the narrative process of the story."
Dashtaray considered acting in this show unique and different and said that watching this work can be helpful for those interested in acting.
He explained: "The process of designing the character of Saturnin by Setareh Pesiani to play the role of a modern girl, as well as the design of the character of Don by Kazem Sayahi, regardless of conventional stereotypes, is very important to show a professional and serial killer."
The director of "Blue Beard" also said about the need for the private sector to accompany the production of a play: "I have always tried to attract independent investors to produce with theater. In our theater, we put the entire burden on the shoulders of the audience, and no funds are allocated to support the groups.
In this situation, good theater actors can earn several times more income by appearing in a series than what they are supposed to pay for performing on stage, and they definitely do not want to appear in the theater.
