“Tunisia Carthage Theatre Days”: workshop on theatre criticism

Without theatre criticism theatre itself will exist only for those present at a performance. Theatre criticism, whether it is favorable or unfavorable, descriptive or analytic, subjective or objective, is a proof of life.

Within the same framework and on the sidelines of “Tunisia Carthage theatre days” running through November 22, “the Arab-African Center for Training and Theatrical Research”, Theatre “El Hamra”, and with the support of the “International Organization of Francophonie” (OIF), 16 journalists from Africa and the Arab world are gathered for a workshop in theatrical criticism.
For ten days they will become familiar with the art of theatrical criticism. The workshop takes place in two phases. The first, in which participants are enriched through interaction and sharing their respective experiences. The second is to follow plays presented at the 14th edition of “Tunisia Carthage theater days” (JTC).
Held simultaneously in Arabic and French the workshop is supervised by experienced professionals such as Mr. Hatem Bourial and Mr. Kamel Alaoui.
In an interview with “Tunisiaonlinenews”, Mr. Dhia el Maliki (Iraq) and Mrs. Rasha Faik (Syria) highlighted the substantial role of the workshop in establishing productive communication between the various generations. “Evolving different theaters like the Tunisian, African and German ones, the trainee does not stop at the borders of watching and receiving, but to move to a second phase as expressing the point of view”, said Mrs. Rasha Faik.
For Mrs. Khadija Semiri the workshop is an opportunity to enable young trainees to master the adequate mechanisms used in theatrical criticism.
For her part, Mrs. Balkisa Mayaga (Mali) said that the workshop is complementary to the many training courses she had particularly through high-quality analytical material submitted by supervisors of the training.
