Behrouz Gharibpour  to restage the puppet show “Rumi”

Iran Theater- The puppet opera "Molavi (Rumi)," written and directed by Behrouz Gharibpour, will be staged again at Ferdowsi Hall after five years.

The third production repertoire of the Aran Puppet Theater Group, The puppet opera "Molavi" by Behrouz Gharibpour, was first performed in February 2009 and last in 2019 on the stage of Ferdowsi Hall.

Rumi is a Persian-language opera by Iranian composer Behzad Abdi to a libretto by puppet theatre director Behrouz Gharibpour. The opera combines Persian traditional dastgāh modal system and sama dance with Western music. The libretto is based on the story of Shams and Rumi.

Behrouz Gharibpour is an Iranian theatre director and pioneer of traditional Persian puppet theatre. He studied theatre at Tehran University and at Dramatic Arts Academy in Rome. He founded Tehran and Esfahan puppet theatre centers and changed Tehran's slaughterhouse into the greatest Iran's Cultural Centre.
