Esmaeil Pashaei:
Saqqez Theater Festival is the first Kurdish festival in the world
Iran Theater- Esmaeil Pashaei, artistic director of the Saqqez International Kurdish Theater Festival explained it as the first and oldest festival in the Kurdish language, to which a playwriting section has been added this year.
The artistic director of festival believes : "Cultural exchange between participating groups will definitely lead to more cooperation in the field of selecting dramatic play and performances between countries. The shows participating in this artistic event will be selected to participate in other national and international festivals as well."
He added that the festival began on November 25 with the opening of Shanu Kurdi Street (Kurdi Theater) and the unveiling of the festival statue.
He went on to say: "14 theater groups from the cities of Turkish Kurdistan, Iraqi Kurdistan, Urmia, Mahabad, Sanandaj, Saqqez, and for the first time from Syrian Kurdistan performed at the festival, and we welcome more than 180 artists and special guests in the city. 4 directing workshops, history of Kurdish theater, Master class with Afshin Hashemi, and an acting workshop with Alireza Khamseh are the other programs of the festival. "
The Saqqez International Theater Festival is underway until November 29.
