About Tehran International Puppet Theater Festival: press conference of artistic director

Nadereh Rezaei (Deputy for Artistic Affairs), Hamid Nili (Director General of dramatic Arts), Amir Soltan Ahmadi ( artistic director of festival), Solmaz Asgari (Executive Director), Mir Arash Mostafaei (Deputy maanger of festival), Marzieh Sarmashqi (Artistic Director), Rafat Hashemi Sisakht (Graphic Designer), and Maryam Saadat (Actor and Puppeter) attended the ceremony.

Nadereh Rezaei stated in this meeting: "The Arts Deputy has become the Deputy for organizing festivals. We are a policy-making and supervisory institution. Our interference in executive work has distanced us from our main mission. Of course, we cannot ignore the importance of artistic events. : The cultural and artistic budget is not large, and we definitely consider it our duty to interact with the private sector if there is a possibility of interaction. The government alone cannot solve the problem, and we definitely need to enlist the help of the private sector to pay attention to the field of culture and art in this economic crisis. We need to think of new methods. We definitely need to pay more attention to the necessity of budget management and handing over the work to the right people."

Hamid Nili explained:” An innovative look is one of the important thing in the 20th festival, presented by the festival's director and secretariat, and I think that this is a good thing in the Tehran-Mubarak festival. Two festivals are very important for me. One is the Children and Youth Festival, which has the task of culturization, and the other is the Puppet Theater Festival, which also carries the cultural burden. Both of these festivals are anchors of the theater.”

Soltan Ahmadi, the festival's artistic director, said: "This is Iran's first international festival and we are the heirs to the efforts of our pioneers. This event is an anchor for puppet children."

 

He continued:” Young people should learn to create short content and practice through it and convey their message to the audience. We accept 30 works in the 100-second section, and these works will be screened at the Bagh Honar pavilion. Fortunately, although this section is being held for the first time, the works of young people have satisfied us in terms of quality.”

Maryam Saadat, an actress and puppeteer, said at the meeting: "This year will be one of the best festivals for me, because I have never seen a director with such honesty who is so committed to his work. Everyone thinks that puppetry is only for children, while adults are also involved in it, and it is the duty of festivals to support it. I am glad that the veterans and artists are helping him to make this event a success by developing talents."
