The 2nd Mystics International (Sahebdelan) Theater Festival kick started

Iran Theater- An Iraqi artist, Abdelkarim Aboud held a workshop on the first day of the second Mystics International Theater Festival, and plays from Iraqi Kurdistan and Iran were performed on stage and in the streets.

 

The 13th national and second international event of Sahebdelan Theater began its work in Rasht on Saturday, December 28, with the performance of two stage plays, a street play, and an educational workshop.

                                                    

The opening day of the Sahebdalan event was held with the educational workshop “From Soul to Body” with the presence of AbdelKarim Aboud, one of the well-known professors in Iraq.

 

In this workshop, this lecturer and theater researcher examined and analyzed “Dramatic Ceremonies and Rituals in Religious Theater.”

 

Abboud stated, “We are trying to examine traditional rituals and ceremonies in a dramatic structure by properly understanding them in the workshop.”

 

He continued, “Participants can enhance their creative roles and cultural connections through this event and contribute to improving the quantitative and qualitative state of today’s theater.”                              

The play “Dars al-Awal”(First lesson) directed by Asoo Nouri Salim from Iraqi Kurdistan is in the international section, which was performed  in the main hall of the Rasht city Complex. The play tells a love story set during the Al-Anfal
event.

 

Referring to the true story of the play, Nouri Salim said: “It’s based on Antonin Artaud’s Theatre of Cruelty, The performance style was studied and prepared for two years.”

 

She said: “This is my first time attending the Sahebdelan Festival, and I am glad that the international section is not competitive like other theater events.”

 

The play “The Feather” featuring artists from Rasht was also staged at the city’s Varsh Hall.

Majid Kazemzadeh -Mozhdehi said about the story of this play: "The story narrates the life of a father and son. The father was one of the servants of Imam Reza (AS) and now suffers from Alzheimer's, and now the son is trying to write a play about his father's life and memories."

The street play "Zamen" directed by Hooman Mirmanavi was also performed in the cold weather of Rasht, with the warmth receptions of  audience in the Rasht Cultural Walkway.

 

The 13th national and second international Sahebdelan Theater Festival is underway in Rasht until 31.

Mahmoud Farhang serves as the artistic director of this event.
