Atabak Naderi: It is necessary to form an art council in the provinces

Iran Theater- Atabak Naderi, head of the General Directorate of Performing Arts, appeared on the "Tehran 20" television program and said: "In order to take theater seriously, it is necessary to form a Supreme Arts Council in the provinces, headed by the governors."
Atabak Naderi said on the "Tehran 20" program: "The Fadjr Theater Festival held its 43rd edition, and this indicates the global prestige of theater."
He went on to say: " 117 works were performed in the national and international sections at 43rd Fadjr, 42 works were from Tehran and 66 from other provinces. In total, 108 Iranian works were performed at the festival. Also, important inrernational shows from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Turkey, Portugal, and Iraq were also staged."
He also explained about the closing awards: "A total of 53 awards were given at the closing ceremony; 41 awards went to artists from the provinces and 12 awards went to artists from Tehran. If we look at the statistics, 77 percent of the awards went to artists from the provinces and only 24 percent to artists from Tehran."
Naderi said: "This festival was held under special conditions, which shows the effort and determination of the artists to continue their cultural and artistic activities. The diversity of themes and styles of the theatrical works showcased the cultural richness of the country, and it is essential to emphasize that theater, as a cultural and social tool, plays an important role in reflecting the social and cultural issues of society."
