43rd Fadjr Film Festival winner, Fereydoun Mehrabi:Supporting theater contributes to the growth and prosperity of cities

Iran Theater- Fereydoun Mehrabi, the winner actor of the 43rd Fadjr International Theater Festival, said that now that theater directors are from theater and cinema backgrounds, it seems like the time has come to reform cultural structures and support theater

Fereydoun Mehrabi, an actor in the play "Terror" directed by Ebrahim Amini and one of the winners of the 43rd Fadjr International Theater Festival, spoke with Iran Theater about the reasons for his lack of activities in recent years and his experience in this show.

Mehrabi said that in 2015, he became one of the most prolific actors in the theater. In 2016, he was one of the judges of Theater Forum, and the following year,He was the jury of Theater Forum, and his activities in these positions were the reason why he did not accept any role in the work of his colleagues.

He explained that he had done a number of productions: "I staged a performance in Sweden with Swedish actors, and I acted in and directed another play in Australia. The play "Withered Flowers" was another show of mine in which I directed and acted."

The artist said about the play "Terror" and the role he played in it: "Terror" was an interactive theater with a special and challenging role. A role that I would like to play in cinema as well. When the rehearsals for the play began, I was acted in the series "Engineering Operations" directed by Soroush Mohammadzadeh, but fortunately, coordination was made with Soroush for the rehearsal time and performances in the cities of Mashhad, Rasht, Yazd, Shiraz, Kerman, and Isfahan, and I was able to join the "Terror" troupe."

He stated that the role of a fighter pilot was completely different from the previous roles he had played in theater, cinema, and television: "The difference of this role compared to the roles I have lived and played so far surprised me. 30 performances in small and large theaters with first-class audiences made it an achievement for me to perceive different and attractive communication in different cities."

Fereydoun Mehrabi pointed out the brilliance of theater artists from across the country at the 43rd Fadjr Theater Festival: "The unique and amazing reception from different cities indicates the special potential of the audience. I was very happy that this year, like in the 90’s, we witnessed the brilliance of theaters in different cities of Iran. We must admit that the concentration of theater in Tehran, due to the large number of halls compared to other cities, has not helped the quality of theater. The dynamic, creative, and energetic flow of theater in Tehran and other cities needs attention, organization, and guidance to gain its place in connection with the audience."
