Sasan Qajar to Receive “Golden Hand Award” from World Mime Organization

Iran Theater- The 2025 World Mime Organization's "Golden Hands" special award went to Iranian artist Sasan Qajar.

World Mime Organization awarded its 2025 "Golden Hands award “ to Iranian artist Sasan Qajar for his efforts and achievements .

 

The World Mime Organization (WMO) is a nonprofit organization that promotes the art of mime and nonverbal communication. It was officially registered on January 4, 2004, in Belgrade, Serbia (at that time still the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro). WMO was established by Marko Stojanović a Serbian actor, professor and mime artist, and Ofer Blum. Both were students of the Paris International School of Mimodrama Marcel Marceau (Ecole International de Mimodrame da Paris Marcel Marceau) in the early 1990s.

 

World Mime Day is a World Mime Organization initiative to celebrate the art of mime and non-verbal communication. It was first observed in 2001 and falls on March 22, the birthday of French mime artist Marcel Marceau. World Mime Day is not officially recognized by UNESCO.

 

The member of the World Mime Organization, including the Islamic Republic of Iran, are from four continents of the world, and the headquarters of the  World Mime Organization is in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia.

 

Sasan Qajar,  from  Zanjan city is a  film, and television artist. He began his career in pantomime spontaneously in the 1990s. Qajar considered Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton's films to be models for silent pantomime, to the point that the short films he made at the Iranian Youth Cinema Association were mostly silent.

 

Qajar is the founder and artistic director  of the International Pantomime Festival in Iran, which has held three editions.
