17TH ANNUAL LOS ANGELES WOMEN'S THEATRE FESTIVAL

For its 17th annual Festival, the Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival will be held for the first time at The Electric Lodge, the nation’s first solar-powered multidisciplinary arts center.
Over the years, the Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival has acquired an international reputation for presenting over 400 of some of the most extraordinary works by multicultural women from around the country in the disciplines of theatre, music, performance poetry, performance art, and storytelling. The women are a diverse group, representing a wide range of ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds. They are superlative artists expressing a variety of perspectives. Performers from the U.S., Canada and throughout the world unite for this year’s Festival with the theme “Meeting the New Decade.”
Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival is made possible in part through the support of the California Arts Council, Los Angeles County Arts Commission, City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs,,U.S. Bank, Union Bank of California, the City of West Hollywood and Adilah Barnes Productions.
MISSION STATEMENT The Los Angeles Women's Theatre Festival ("LAWTF") was organized to provide a vehicle for the development of women artists utilizing theatre to educate, enlighten and empower solo artists, audiences and volunteers.
We celebrate and reflect the diversity of women's voices while focusing on the oneness of women's experiences.
Background The first Annual Festival was held during March, 1994, to coincide with the nationally recognized Women's History Month. LAWTF performances celebrate women as artists and cherish the dignity of women in their roles as daughters, mothers and shapers of the community.
