Festival «New European Theatre» in Moscow

The New European Theatre festival started in Moscow this week. Till 28 on November Moscow audience can enjoy productions of well-known directors made in an experimental way.
The plays are staged abroad and the festival gives opportunity to see all them in Russia. For example, there will be "Dead Souls" directed in Riga by Kirill Serebryanikov, a famous artist of new wave Russian theatre. Or German plays "The Ugly One» staged by Ramin Gray from Great Britain in Russian theatre "Praktika".
The twelfth New European Theatre festival seems to be made in good traditions of this event. The key principle of NET is to define trends in contemporary theatre direction, new writing, and acting. Most directors are already known as innovators in Russia. Alvis Hermanis from Latvia and his Late Neighbours,Viktor Bodo from Hungary and his The Hour when we knew nothing of each other, Eric Lacascade from France with Dede Vania and others. Among them there are several Russian names - Ivan Vyrypaev with his self-written "Dance Delhi" performed in Warsaw and Kirill Serebryanikov with his interpretation of "Dead Souls" on famous Nilokay Gogol's novel. For Kirill Serebryanikov it is the first experience on staging abroad and dealing with foreign actors. But as he said in his case Gogol himself was the best bridge between director and actors.
One of the most prominent theater directors in Bulgaria today, Javor Gardev works abroad much. He has staged twenty-five theatre performances in his home country and abroad, and was awarded 14 theatre awards. His long feature debut film Zift won numerous domestic and international awards. Meanwhile, it was Bulgaria's official entry for foreign language Oscar. And now his play “The Groenholm Method” is performed on a regular basic in Russia and it'll be staged within the framework of festival NET in coming days.
The New European Theatre Festival will take place till 28 of November in different theatres - Meyerhold Theatre Centre, Moscow Region Palace of Arts, Projekt Fabrika, Pushkin Drama Theare, Yauza Palace and Theatre of Nations.
