Biggest Ever Street Theatre Festival across the Country

To mark the 40th anniversary of Independence as well as the 20th anniversary of The Daily Star, a month-long street theatre festival across the country begins from January 14.

The Daily Star along with Bangladesh Patho Natok Parishad, the platform organisation for street theatre activities, will organise the event.
The festival will commence in Dinajpur on January 14 and will end in Jessore, on February 14. Meanwhile, the festival will take place in different districts throughout the months of January and February.
The festival will be held in around 50 districts, where more than 110 troupes from all over the country will stage plays highlighting various social issues.
In terms of participating troupes, plays, shows, venues and days, the festival is going to be one of the biggest theatre events in recent times.
The plays to be staged at the festival will uphold themes such as the Liberation War, journey towards democracy and secularism as well as provide messages to implement the trial of war criminals.
Apart from staging of plays, the festival will also feature discussions, songs, recitations and more.
A 13-member committee has been formed to organise the festival. Mannan Heera, president of Patho Natok Parishad, is the convener, while Selim Shamsul Huda Chowdhury of The Daily Star is the co-ordinator of the festival committee.
The slogan of the festival is “Muktijuddher Potaka Hathey…Cholechhi Mora Ganotantrer Pothey”.
