'Twelfth Night' festival celebrates the works of Williams

The Sanctuary in the Groves — Theatre West is kicks off an extended celebration of the plays of Tennessee Williams this weekend with "Twelfth Night ... or What You Will," featuring performances of two of Williams' one-act plays. The company will produce "27 Wagons Full of Cotton" and a second play that organizers are keeping under wraps at 7 p.m. today and Saturday.
"27 Wagons Full of Cotton" is one of Williams' best-known one-act plays. It examines the relationship between Jake and Flora, a married couple in rural Mississippi.
The Sanctuary in the Groves — Theatre West cast includes Jeff Glickman as Jake, Leslee Young as Flora and Paxton McGaghren as Vicarro. Glickman directs the play.
"This is the opener of our regional Tennessee Williams Festival, which we are doing in conjunction with the Provincetown (Mass.) Tennessee Williams Theater Festival that's commemorating the playwright's 100th birthday," said McGaghren, executive artistic director for Sanctuary in the Groves — Theatre West.
The celebration continues at Sanctuary in the Groves on Jan. 28-30, when the company presents three more of Williams' plays —"Talk to Me Like the Rain and Let Me Listen," "Thank You, Kind Spirit" and "Auto Da Fe." The company adds "The Glass Menagerie" to its repertoire with performances in March.
