Moments of drama at Times fest

If it's theatre then Kolkata's got to be excited about it. The city has been the nursery of stagecraft and a patron of good theatre and the tradition continues. Drishyakabya 2011 The Times of India Theatre Festival got off to a rousing start at Academy of Fine Arts on Friday
. The three-day festival will feature five plays by some of the leading theatre groups of the city. It was inaugurated by West Bengal minister for information and culture Soumendranath Bera and veteran theatre personality Rudraprasad Sengupta.
The festival started with Kaushik Sen's "Birpurush", which will be followed by "Chunilal, The Indian Robin Hood" by Rajat Ganguly and Bratya Basu's "Kanyadaan" on January 29. Tarapada Mukhopadhyay's "Chaitanya" and Debesh Chattopadhyay's "Surjo Pora Chhai" will be staged on January 30.
Prayag Group is the title sponsor of the festival with Life Insurance Corporation of India, ONGC, Teacher's Origin and Asoka Lifescience Ltd as associate sponsors. While Amar Samay is the magazine partner, Aakaash Bangla and Aamar 106.2 FM are the TV and radio partners respectively. Arun Sign will be the outdoor partner.
Noted theatre personality Rudraprasad Sengupta will be felicitated at the inaugural programme of the festival on Friday.
