Constructing 3 Cultural Centres, Announcing Omani Theatre Festival

Sheikh Hamad bin Hilal al-Ma'amari Undersecretary of Heritage and Culture Ministry for Cultural Affairs said that the ministry would establish 3 cultural centres in the Wilayat of Sohar, the Governorate of Al Buraimi and the Wilayat of Nizwa that was chosen as the Capital of Arab Culture 2015.

    Al-Ma'amari pointed out that the centres would include theatres and equipped with the state-of-the-art technologies, in addition to seminar and conference rooms that would be built according to the world's highest standards, adding that the ministry has completed the construction of a theatre at the ministry's cultural centre in Dhofar Governorate.
That was announced in the press conference that was held in Platinum Hotel in the presence of a number of media representatives, heads of local theatre troupe and those concerned with arts and theatre. During the press conference, the 4th Omani Theatre Festival was announced that would be held on the theatre of Al Bustan Palace Hotel from December 19th to 28th
 "On the sidelines of the plays preceding the launch of the festival, the winner troupes will be chosen to take part in the festival, in addition to honoring a number of the excelled theatre actors" al-Ma'amari added.
 On the other hand, Dr. Abdul-Karim bin Ali Jawad, the Festival Director said that the plays that would precede the festival would be performed on the theatre of the College of Technology in Al Khuwair where the ministry would announce the 8 successful plays from amongst 15 plays to be performed by the local theatre troupes in the 4th Omani Theatre Festival.
