Companies from 17 countries in Cuban Theater Festival

Aimed at promoting a reflexive theater capable of establishing a dialogue with the audience, Havana’s Theater Festival will be held from October 27th through November 6th.

Companies from 17 countries, including Cyprus, which participates for the first time, along with a Broadway musical. International visitors will be joined by 28 ensembles from the island.
The program includes three performances in 13 theaters in Havana plus others in the provinces of Matanzas, Pinar del Río, Cienfuegos and Villa Clara, sub venues of the event.
The opening will take place at the Morro-Cabaña complex, and will include workshops, theoretical events, specialized presentations, film screenings inspired by theater plays, and tributes to emblematic figures linked to the theater world.
A tribute to famous British playwright 2005 Nobel Literature Prize winner, Harold Pinter (1930-2008), will be included in the cultural event’s theoretical program, consisting of a lecture by one of its students, actor and writer Andy de la Tour.
The Antonio Gades Company will close the Theater Festival at Havana’s Grand Theater on November 6, with the show Bodas de Sangre or Blood Wedding.
