“Ma Yek Moalem Mikhahim” Lands New Delhi Triumph

“Ma Yek Moalem Mikhahim (We Want a Teacher)” awarded three statuettes of India’s 11th International Children Theater Festival.
The play is written and directed by Hamed Shafi’khah and Hamed Nasrabadian is its choreographer.
“Ma Yek Moalem Mikhahim” received best director, choreographer and idea awards of the Indian festival, Iran Theater website reported.
Shafi’khah told the website in India that this was his second participation in the festival, which hosted plays from 25 countries.
“The play “Ma Yek Moalem Mikhahim” intends to be in line with the festival’s “be human” theme while displaying Iran’s culture and rituals,” the director explained.
He added that the group’s visit to India was pleasant and called a lunch party with Iran’s ambassador to India Mr Nabizadeh on the last day and presence of the representative of Iran’s envoy to India during the trip notched up their spirit a lot.
Shafi’khah expressed hope that such meetings would help officials support Iranian plays.
The director said that the play garnered a big audience in New Delhi festival and was awarded three statuettes, adding that preliminary talks for holding workshops and performances in Germany, Turkey and Zambia were conducted.
Meanwhile, Nasrabadian, play’s choreographer, said that the play pictured how could be a human in Iranian point of view. To do so, Nasrabadian said, the group used traditional Iranian movements and music and benefited from audience with different nationalities to perform the last scene.
He explained that a five-minute workshop was also held to train some audience on Iranian movements and some actors from the east and west performed these gestures at the end, which attracted enthusiasm.
On the meeting with the ambassador, Nasrabadian said that launch of a pantomime school in New Delhi for children with hearing impairments was discussed as two branches of such institutions were set up in Iran and Armenia so far.
Nasrabadian, Nima Pourdehnad, Bahar Yadollahi, Maryam Farhangi and Morvarid Ramezani play in “Ma Yek Moalem Mikhahim”.
