Leading Int’l Groups in Tehran in Aug-Sept

Following watching Germany’s “Leo” in Master Samandarian Auditorium of Iranshahr Theater Complex, Mohammad Dashtgoli said Tehran International Theater Festival would host theatre groups from home and abroad.
“Groups like those who performed “Leo” –which was a participant in the 30th Fadjr International Theater Festival and its performance received the audience enthusiasm-- will be invited to the [Tehran] festival,” Dashtgoli told the complex’s Public Relations Office in an exclusive interview.
The director said the planning for selection of the participants of the festival would be made by early-March and the decision on final participants and performance auditoriums would officially be announced by mid-March, according to Iran Theater website.
Dashtgoli explained on joint performances with international groups the executive plans were decided and the center was to have joint works with noted directors and artists like [German director] Peter Stein with playing of Iranian actors.
“Based on an agreement with theater groups from Austria, the production expenses will be equally paid by both countries. We pay for Iranian actors and place of performance and they would pay for sending the groups to Iran,” he said.
On joint performances with Germany and other European countries, he said the works would surely be performed for the audience in these countries and this would need their invitation.
Iranshahr Theater Complex is hosting “East Is East”, which is directed by Masoud Raygan. Actors and actresses are; Roya Taymoorian, Farzin Mohades, Shabnam Moghaddami, Pegah Ahangarani, Erfan Naseri, Mehdi Koushki and Khosrow Ahmadi. The theater is performed in the Auditorium I of the complex every day at 20:30 except for Saturdays.
