ZABALAZA THEATRE FESTIVAL
Fourteen exciting original productions will make their mainstream debut at the Baxter Theatre Centre’s second Zabalaza Theatre Festival, with eight more on at the newly introduced Fringe Programme, and the team spearheading one of South Africa’s leading development theatre festivals promises an even bigger and better festival than in 2011.
Some of the highlights this year are the celebrity guest of honour, superstar Yvonne Chaka Chaka, the Sibikwa Indigenous African Orchestra who will play in the foyer every night from 18:00 during the festival, and a special guest production, Thabo Mbeki and other Nightmares by Tsepo Wa Mamatu.
Some of the productions will take place in the newly opened Masambe Theatre in the basement level of the Baxter.
