Colombia Bogota International Theater Festival

Bogota International Theater Festivalwas an initiative of Fanny Mikey and Ramiro Osorio in the year 1988.
At that time it was launched as an event which was part of the celebrations of the 450th anniversary of the Founder's Day of Bogota. The first play to be staged there was titled An Act of Faith in Colombia.
The main aim of Bogota International Theater Festival in Colombia during those days was to display to the world the unity amongst the Latin American countries and their artistes, but today, it has been recognized as one of the most important international events in which artistes from the five continents participate together.
Bogota International Theater Festival at Colombia is a 17 day festival held after every 2 years, where artistes from over 30 countries from the 5 continents come together on the same stage to perform.
Generally, this theater festival is celebrated during the Easter week. The streets of Bogota get packed for 17 days with theater artistes from various countries giving the best of their work.
Apart from the plays, other performing arts such as pantomimes, dance, music, circus, multimedia and puppet shows are also organized during the Bogota International Theater Festival of Colombia. Since the last 18 years, the festival has been successful in promoting equality, tolerance and peaceful relations between the different nations who participate here.
Colombian International Theater Festival at Bogota is significant from the economic point of view also as it brings huge revenue to the Colombian treasury through the increase in tourism during these 17 days. Moreover, many big business houses and companies make use of the opportunity and invest their money in the festival which in return generates them the double of the actual revenue.
