Intn'l theater festival opens in Russia's Ulyanovsk

An international theater festival kicks off in the Russian city of Ulyanovsk on Tuesday, in an event that is timed to coincide with the bicentenary of the birth of renowned Russian novelist Ivan Goncharov.
He is best known as the author of Oblomov, a novel which will be brought to the Ulyanovsk stage in an adaptation by the Russian Theater in Berlin.
The festival’s program also features a series of performances that will help theater buffs to better understand Goncharov’s creative activity.
The festival is due to wrap up on June 16.
