Kioomars Moradi’s “A City Without Sky” in Italy

Kioomars Moradi staged “A City Without Sky” in Italy’s experimental theater festival.
On the performance in Italy, Moradi told Iran Theater website that “A City Without Sky” was staged on the opening of the festival, which received enthusiasm as the play was the first Iranian drama performed in the event.
He said that Italian audiences were surprised that Iran theater was used technology for the performance.
As “Pino B Budha”, director of the festival said, the audiences became familiar and had a new view Iran theater, Moradi added.
Moradi, director of “House” and “Julius Cesar”, said the festival took place in ten days in Italy’s Fara in Sabina, adding that each group held workshops on acting and directing after their performances.
“I had workshops for two days. First one was about Iran’s today modern theater and participants asked questions,” Moradi said. “The second educational workshop was about acting in which participants, students of Rome Theater University and Teatro Potlach, the organizer of the festival, which had “Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea” in the 30th International Fadjr Theater Festival attended.”
He said that all groups spontaneously performed environmental theater at the end of the festival turning the city into a theater scene.
Moradi said, he performed “Who Am I” video art on Iranian culture and art in Fara in Sabina museum.
Another experience of the festival was getting acquainted with Eugenio Barba, Italian author and theater director, who is director of the Odin Theatre in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Each group paid its expenses. Meanwhile, Germany, India, Japan and Odin Theatre performed in the festival.
Setareh Pesiani and Pantea Panahiha were actresses of the play who had participated in the festival while Nazgol Nardian and Fatemeh Naghavi were players whose films were seen in the performance.
Moradi is currently working on his latest play “Simorgh” and plans to stage it by the end of summer.
