A Contemporary JULIUS CAESAR

Politics! We're in the heat of our country's blistering presidential election process. In Carmel, as the national conventions catapult the candidates into their intense campaigns, a 400-year old play comes to life delivering a message that human political motivation hasn't change much over the centuries.
Under the direction of Artistic Director Kenneth Kelleher, Shakespeare's greatest thriller is illuminated in contemporary fashion revealing an exciting interpretation of this classic play about the life-and-death struggles for political power. Caesar's growing ambition threatens the Republic that is already riddled with assassination plots, conspiracy and bloody murders. Caesar is killed and chaos engulfs the city. Alliances are formed and faked, and leaders are made and sacrificed.
Pacific Repertory Theater launches its 23rd Annual Carmel Shake-speare Festival with the contemporary staging of "Julius Caesar". The play's brief run of nine performances –from September 7 to 23- which takes place at the company's newly refurbished stage of the Golden Bough Theatre in Carmel, features equity actors Remi Sandri as Brutus and Michael Wiles as Cassius.
