“Simorgh” Best Play in India’s Katak Festival

Pirouz Mirzaie’s “Simorgh” play has been awarded the best play in India’s Katak Festival.

In an interview with Iran theatre website “Pirooz Mirzaei” by announcing the full name of this festival as India’s Katak Theatre Olympiad Festival, said: “We traveled to India on Oct 12 for executing the play, performed at Festival on Oct. 14 and 16 and received the national prize of the festival on its 20th anniversary.
Stating the overwhelming reaction of the audience to the play he added: “On the second day of the performance the 1000 seat hall was full and some were even watching the play standing. The city’s mayor, governor and deputy also watched our performance”.
When asked whether the foreign audience was able to connect with the play, Mirzaiae said part of the play was a story told by the narrator and as the actors played their part so well the audience was fully engaged with it. The play was performed through the narrator and rhythmic movements of the artists. Also the local and foreign media has published pictures, interviews and reports of the play.
Meanwhile he added considering Indian people’s interest in Ballywood I was surprised by their enthusiasm and amusement with theater and how the hall was full of audience.
While explaining the team had rehearsed almost two years for preparing this play, the director said” I participated in the drama section of this  festival personally and bear all costs myself and stated that India’s Katak Festival is a private festival and is executed by Professor Chandra’s  bears all the costs of the Festival every year.
“Simorgh” play is based on Attar’s” Mantegholteyr” and is about unity in general.
It should be mentioned that 20countries like Poland, Austria, Netherlands, Italy and Spain also took part in India’s Katak Festival
