Deputy of Arts amongst Majlis Cultural Commission Deputies: “In Comparison to Cinema, Theatre’s Budget is Not Fair”

Deputy of Arts said: Presently the main issue regarding the budget is the ratio of theatre budget to cinema which is 1 to 6 and unfair.

According to Irantheatre website, a meeting to Arts & Media group of Majlis cultural commission regarding theatre issues took place on Sun. 3rd of Dey in present of Hamid Shahabadi, Deputy of Arts Affairs of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ministry, Ghader Ashena Directing Manager of Performing Arts and Ramezanali Heidary Khalili programming consultant to deputy of arts affairs.

During the meeting members of the cultural commission were briefed on country’s theatre condition, executed works regarding the Fadjr Festival and the trend of supervision on theatre.
 
Deputy of Arts Affairs called the meeting a positive one and said in this meeting the general policy of performing arts main office i.e. general performance of the plays and theatre conditions in small cities and the works done in this respect was discussed. Shahabadi added: The main concerns of the members of Majlis cultural commission were also being discussed especially the foundation of theatre in small cities. The most interesting issue for them was the subject of assigning theatrical groups.
Regarding the main expectations of the Majlis cultural commission’s members, Deputy of arts affairs said: One of the most important issues amongst these expectations, discussed in this meeting was the subject of intellectual support of country’s theatre.
More than financial support, our theatre needs the intellectual support of the state authorities,. Deep understanding of theatre’s situation, capacity of country’s theatre, the data of executed plays during last year, and data of theatre people and the formation method of theatre in small cities were issues brought up and discussed in this meeting.
He noted” We tried to ask the esteemed deputies, through this form to visit theatres, attend theatrical meetings, request especial programs and on the other hand we also to have special agendas for Majlis deputies and in respect to their acquaintance with theatre.
Shahabadi added” highlighting the special place of theatre in the country and the fact that it is a mother art, attracted more attention to the subject and it was confirmed that any progress expected from cinema and television by our cultural community will in fact achieved from paying special attention to the theatre.
Regarding the budget Deputy of Arts affairs said: Noting the theatre’s budget was also discussed. The main issue in this respect is the ratio of theatre’s budget to cinema which presently is 1 to 6 and it is not fair. In fact this ratio should be respected. As theatre is an expensive form of art, we called Majlis’s special attention to its budget.
The said authority added” Another issue discussed and confirmed was the issue of assigning a special priority to our Grand theatre.
About other topics discussed during the meeting, Shahabad added” The subject of education in small cities theatres and also in state theatre was discussed and full information was provided to the attendees. Regarding the outlook of Majlis deputies, our friends insisted that incase problems of country’s theatre in the law and not its articles boundaries require the intellectual support of the Majlis deputies then clear suggestions should be given to them by the Deputy of Arts affairs Office. In this respect he added that the Majlis cultural commission members announced its readiness to assess the state’s theatrical law and in case any challenge or dysfunction is found they would try their best to remove the obstacle.
In the end Deputy of arts affairs insisted that the meeting result for our theater’s capacity is the Majlis intellectual support from it which we are hopeful to have more serious attendance of Majlis cultural commission’s members in theatrical meeting. This is a very serious request which was greeted warmly by the attendees. In the end we hope that by continuation of such meetings there will be closer relations between theatre and Majlis and therefore will decrease theatre’s challenges and difficulties.
