A report from 9 Plays Participated at the International Section of the 31st Fadjr Int’l Theater Festival

In the international section of the 31st Fadjr Int’l Theater Festival 9 theatrical pieces from Iran, Switzerland, Australia, Hungary, Lebanon, South Korea, Italy, Azerbaijan and Armenia took part.
According to Iran theater website form this round of Festival, “Tel Zahaque”, “Desdemona”, “King Ubo”, “Seven +7”, Grand Hotel”, “1+1”, The woman who fell under the train”, “ Storm” and “Mim and Mania” are the 9 plays to be staged in this year’s Fadjr Int’l Theater Festival.
“Tel Zahaque” A mutual work of Iran & Switzerland
Tel Zahaque” written by Nasim Ahmadpour and Bridgitte Helbeling“, directed by Aliasghar Dashti and Nicholas Helbeling, a cooperation between” Don Kishout” and “Mes Va Fiber” groups which is mutually produced by Iranian and Swiss artists.
As Wilhelm Tell is a well known name for every Swiss person, Kaveh Ahangar , Shahnameh’s hero is also well known for every Iranian. Kaveh Ahangar is a hero who stands against Zahaque’s tyranny and Wilhelm Tel is Swiss’s national epic hero who stands against the Feudal system of his time to defend his fellow villager’s right. Kaveh’s apron and Tel’s hat are the symbols of injustice/freedom in this play.
This play will be staged at Otsad Samandarian’s hall in Iranshahr Theater on 4-5 Bahman 23-24 Jan.) played by David Burger, Arash Bozorgzadeh, Mina Doroodian, Farbod Farhang, Farshad Fozooni, Abbas Habibi, Silvan Jagger, Dominique Muller, Sayyar Dashti, Marique Sadel, Nicole Schtider and Silvestron Housling.
“Desdemona” from Australia
Jolanta Jozkivich’s Desdemona, will be staged on 8 Bahman (27 Jan.) at Sayeh Hall, directed by Anatoli Frousin in cooperation with Kroka group from Australia.
Kroka group adapts and stages its play from Othello, Shakespeare’s symbolic play which pays to love, madness and devestation. The play is proofreaded version of Othello played by Jolanta Jozkivich.
Meanwhile Alfred Zary ‘s“King Ubo” directed by Zoletan Balaz, will be staged by Hungarian “Maladaip” group on 8 Bahman ( 27 Jan.) at Iranshahr theater’s Ostad Samandarian hall.
“King Ubo” from Hungary
“ King Ubo” which is the most famous work of Alfred Zary, is about mocking aschol puppet that Jary has staged it at 1888 in his scholl roof. The play’s subject is about the immature behavior of King Ubo, as a sybbol of France’s Bourgeois class of his era. In this play, Akous Oroz, Zoletan Landvaskozy, Zollette Pall and Gabor Zhazburney are taking part.
“Seven+7” From Lebanon
“Seven +7”is Nadine Touma’s play, directed by Eric Dinoud, played by “Kahroba” & Lebanease“Dar Onbz” group on 5-6 Bahman (27-28 Jan.) at Honar Hall.
This play is adapted by “Sabaaa and Sabaa” book which is narrated in traditional story telling way. The story is about the moon that eats a fish and divides to two parts, one part is in a garden and the other half ends up in a shop…. In this play, Nadine Touma, Orline Zucki and Sivieanne Aris play.
The Grand Hotel from North Korea
“The Grand Hotell” is another play participated in this year’s Fadjr In’t theater Festival written by Lawn Muller, directed by Chongia Park in cooperation with Chouain” group from South Korea.
“The Grand Hotel” is the story of four women abused by Japanese soldiers and who want the war to end to be able to escape the brutal behavior of the soldiers…
Bissoun Jong, Sang Hi Lee, Mason Jane, Soura Soun, Joungho Lee and Sanjgha Lee take part in this play which will be staged on 8-9 Bahman (27-28 Jan) at Vahdat Hall.
“1+1” A Mutual work from Iran & Italy
“1+1” is a mutual production by Iran and Italy written and directed mutually by Omid Niaz and Goglimo Papa. It will be staged on 9 Bahman (28 Jan.) at Sayeh Hall played by Goglimo Papa and Popoli Tizianno.
The play is about 2 people from different places who accidentally meet and compete for a new land with each other.
“Storm” from Italy
“Storm” written by Doccio Barluci, directed by Lorna Serenni and Doccio Barluci, in cooperation with “Theater de Almaviva” of Italy will be staged on 9-10 Bahman (28-29 Jan) at Main Hall of the City Theater Complex.
“Storm” adapted by the sentence” We are Dream” has a storyline wherein magic is combined by criterions like destiny and fate and searching for kindness in people’s lives. “Theatro de Almaviva” has a poetic adaptation mixed with sense of humor in an enchanting, dazzling setting with Comedia Delarte masks.
Massimo Barbagli, Andria Donini, Simone Margery, Pier Fransisco Minouci, Gioseppe Armani, Aloura Deabbote, Vittoria Samorie, Elizabetta Bianci, Sofia Bousia, Doccio Barlouci, Lorla Serenni, Casta Gnolli and Claudia Manfredini are the artists of this play.
“The Woman who Fell Under the Train” from Azerbaijan
“A Woman who Fell Under the Train” a play written by Afagh Masoud , directed by Mehraban Aliakbar Zadeh, in cooperation with Azerbaijan’s National University’s Theater Group will be staged on 7 Bahman ( 26 Jan) at the Main Hall of the City Theater Complex.
The play tells the story of an old artist who has devoted all his life to the stage. The story happens at a train station which is a haven for homeless people. In this place he meets some people who once had a n outstanding place in the society but now have lost everything. Kamale Hussein Ava, Jafar Namigh Kamal, Parviz Baghirav, Hejran Nasir Ava, Rashad Gharraf, Kazem Abdullahof, Shahla Esmaiel Ava, Yadegar Karim, Delbar Esmaeil Ava take part in this play.
“Mim & Mania” from Armenia
“Mim & Mania” is the ninth work participated at the 31st Fadjr Int’l Theater Festival, directed by Ara Harutounian and in cooperation with “Mim Studio” theatrical group from Armenia.
“Mim & Mania” is a pantomime play played for the first time at 2010 in cooperation with Mim Studio. The play has four pieces which tells the serious matters with a sense of humor and laughter and insists on close relations between human beings.
Hovhaness Hajinian, Haik Israilian, Avaha Rotirnian take part in this play which will be stage on Sangeladje Theater at 3-4 Bahman ( 22-23 Jan.)
