2013 Golden Mask Theater Festival opens in Russia
Monday saw the beginning of the Golden Mask, a Russian theatre festival and the National Theatre Award established in 1994 by the Theatre Union of Russia.
The opening ceremony was held in the Moscow Bolshoi Theater, where the Yekaterinburg Opera and Ballet Theater presented the Amore Buffo ballet.
In all, 46 theaters are taking part in the 2013 Golden Mask festival, due to be completed on April 15.
Prizewinners are to be announced on April 16.
The Golden Mask makes a special focus on touring activities presenting programmes of best performances in the Russian cities and in the Baltic countries. These projects are supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
In 2013 the Golden Mask Festival will be held for the 19th time. The main (competition) programme will take place in Moscow from January 28th till April 15th, 2013. The Awards Ceremony will be held on April 16 at the Stanislavsky Opera and Ballet Theatre.
